Rag Throttle Club Mesa Friday, March 16th Once again, another solid show put on at the lovely Club Mesa in Costa Mesa. Unfortunately The Turbo A.C.s had to cancel due to the fact that they wrecked their van. No need to worry, the word was they were a-ok. That's good to hear. Not to be disappointed the other bands did a good job to provide a decent show. Throttle was first, and they played a set of down and dirty kick ass rock 'n' roll. Some songs were fast, some were slow, with scratchy vocals, and a wall of guitars. Throttle got a host of cheers from the crowd so they seem to be definite pleasers. Keep your eye out for them. Next was Lords of Altamont. I thought they were great. Good live show. The singer lit his organ on fire, the drummer did some serious bashing on his kit, and overall this band was tight as hell. I couldn't hear the vocals well, but the organ was a nice touch. They closed the set by trashing the stage. What else do you need for some good rock and roll fun? Lords of Altamont are good ol' surf swamp buzzsaw sounds to fuck shit up to. Last was Throw Rag whom I had never seen yet. I had heard mixed things about them before, but let me tell you Throw Rag are the funniest most entertaining band I have seen in a while. I must admit I was pretty drunk by this point but that only made it better. The lead singer is one funny bastard. He had the chicks swooning and I was laughing my ass off. Good guitar work and a tight rhythm section made their tunes flow with near perfection. Throw Rag have the whole thing going, good stage presence, and the skills to play their instruments. Extra note: these guys also own the biggest belt buckles around. Yee-haw. Check out Throw Rag for sure.
