When I woke up this Sunday noon I was still in my dreams after that very fun Saturday weekend party. But there was more this day then staying in bed and trying to sleep as long as possible. I had to go to cover a show of my all time favorite band Goldfinger. Yapp, i climbed out of my bed to take a shower and get some breakfast cereals and waited for my friend to get there. After a long time of doing nothing and thinking about some stupid questions for the interview we went to Cologne to the Prime Club to meet the band.

After a big looking for a parking lot we finally found some little space next to a street-lamp and another small car. OK, we mostly hit the lamp but we had a parking lot! We went to the club where we were supposed to meet Matt Kimble their tour-manager. But who was Matt? A lot of people were running around and were doing the sound-check for the show. After a while some guy came and told us to wait while he's going to talk to Matt about the interview. After another 12 hours (OK, maybe 15 mins.) Matt came and took us to John who was supposed to be our interview-partner for tonight. Great feeling to sit right next to John and talk with about normal things. But anyway, we started the interview and suddenly we recognized that we forgot all our notes in the car....what now? Hmm.....so we started with brand-new-super-duper-questions and it all worked out really good till the next day when i found out that the microphone didn't work right and nothing was on my MD-player. i was so fucked, i was about to kick my own ass.

Anyway, there's still some stuff I remember :) I was very surprised about a lot of things he told us about themselves, did u know that John is a Vegen? and Kelly's the only person at Goldfinger who eats meat? WOW, this is amazing, and when I asked about where they get all the power for their shows from John told us that they dont't drink any alcohol or smoke. Nice thing you wouldn't first think about a ska-punk band huh?!? But it's good fo them, what would happen if they would smoke and drink?? Maybe their shows wouldn't be that exiting and powerfull. They would maybe just hang around on stage and play their songs. When we asked abou a new album release, John told us that they are recording a lot of brand new songs for their next release (release-date summer 2002) and that they already recorded about 6 or 8 songs out of 20 brand new material. Nice thought, 20 new songs...this is one of the reasons why I want you guys to go to Goldfinger shows, go there and join 2 of their new songs, they really kick ass! I'd like to sing them here for you now, but your internet-provider would kick you out then. hehe.

One of their new songs will be released in German, John really likes the language and wants to know as much as he can get in German, actually all they know in Germish are all those dirty words like "Fick dich ins Knie!" or "kleine Schwanz" or my favourite is "Blas mir einen!". As long as they know what it means.....I'm not going to explain it here, it's your thing to find out what it means. Take your dictionnary and have a fun day with it :) Really usefull things were almost forgotten after 10 minutes. Thins like: "Hallo, wir sind Goldfinger, unser nächstes Lied heisst..." which means: "Hey, we are Goldfinger, our next song is called...". After a while and a lot of questions later John had to go to check his guitar-sound and so we went back to the stage where we met some girls from or favourite party-place in Cologne!

Yeah, that was nice, we weren't alone anymore and had some other people to talk to. In the meantime Goldfinger played some of their songs and also one of their new songs which was very very very very very very very nice to listen to. Great song, if I knew how it was called I would tell you, but I forgot it :) Later on when their support (28 days from Australia) had their soundcheck we went out to dinner with John and Matt and some other friend of John. We went to this little Vegetarin place and had a great time with them there. I had a salad, a coke and some bread and payed about $10!! Man, this was expencieve....for the size of the salad, coke and bread!! we went back to the club then and John got ready for going on stage. We had a peek at 28 Days, which music style is like Shelter with a DJ from Australias beach side influenced by some punk and hardcore bands. Uhmm....might be wrong, but that was my impression when i listened to the the first time there. Now it was time for Goldfiner....yehaaaaaa, they came on stage and partied it all the time. The people rocked the house, we had fun and everything went fine. Even though its was their first show after they arrived the night before, and they all still had a jet lag Their set was damn good and Darrin's famous solo-showpart kicked ass again. This time he covered Madonna's "Like a virgin" and he had a mostly live-fuck (see the pic) with some other guys on stage. After the show we hanged out with Goldfinger and talked a while about the show and stuff.

But now it was time to go home for us and time for Goldfinger to get ready to get up early for their trip to Hamburg where they played the other night. On Wednesday the played in Dortmund and because we still had the passes, we went on to see them live for another time! DAMN YES....and this show kicked so big asses, it was hell, they had more power on this show then i saw before! Later on we hanged out with Kelly and the 2 girls we met in Cologne before. Matt told us to keep the passes, after he saw that they were signed. Im not sure if he gave them back because they were signed or just because it was ok, but anyway....he's a great guy! Can't wait to meet him again at some other Goldfinger show! That's all from it for now and I'm sorry again, that you can't listen to the interview, IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!! IT WAS THE MICROPHONE! I will spit on it for you if you want me to :)

Hear the interview we got with Goldfinger before they toured Germany!
