Like usual I arrived at my normal time, late.  I was shocked on how many kids there.  I haven’t seen a turn out for punk show like this in a while.  At least on a weekday.  I was able to catch a few songs from the opening band Dickfor.  From what I saw they were good.  They had a similar style to Guttermouth.  Like I said those last songs were good so if you like angry, drunk punks go check them out.

Next up was The Deviates.  This was the first time I heard or saw the Deviates so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I knew that they were picked up by Epitaph so I assumed they would be pretty good.  Well they were.  They rocked the Galaxy.  From the very first song to the very last song they had the crowd pumped up with their raw energy.  They reminded me of early Pennywise with a mix of old school.  If you’ve never seen them get off your ass and check them out you wont be disappointed.

Now it was time for No Motiv.   The only thing I can really say is they didn’t belong on the bill.  The crowd either wasn’t listening to them or they were telling them to get off the stage.  Sometimes I wonder why they put slower emo bands with fast punk bands.

Finally Ignite took the stage.  The floor of the Galaxy was packed.  All the kids were waiting for them to come out on stage.  As they began their first song the crowd went crazy.  Which caused some delays through out the show.  You see the Galaxy has a no slam policy.  And the bouncers can be dicks.  I understand that venues don’t want to have slam dancing at their clubs because everyone is sue happy but its going to happen if you book these kinds of bands.  So they should lay off taking their aggression out on the kids.  So any ways back to the show.  I’ve listened to their album’s but I haven’t seen them live before.  If you like their album you need to see them live.  They put on a hell of a show.  They are full of energy and by the time they are done you are thinking is that all they are going to play.  I was really impressed by Zoli’s voice.  It’s hare to find a hard band with a great vocal presence and understandable lyrics.  I was also impressed by their new guitarist.  I heard a rumor that he was their old merch guy and he knew the songs so well they took him in.  That’s pretty cool.  So check this band out live if you want to see a great show.  You won’t be disappointed.  This was a overall great show.  What more can you ask for, Great Bands, Good Sound,  and most important beer.

Yours truly,

Dirty Sanchez
