Let me start off by saying that this establishment has a fine taste for art. If you can’t stand watching bands at least you can look at the naked paintings and crazy stuff going on the TV. The line up for this show was quite impressive. Things started out with an emo/punk rock band called Fifty 7 Down. If you are a fan of Blink and MxPx, then you will definitely like this band. They had catchy guitar riffs and bass lines that left me humming them in my head. The singer was quite energetic as well, running off stage to express himself from time to time. Overall, they put on a decent show. The next band that played is called The Gasface and I must say that these guys ROCKED!! The drummer was so badass that he broke his kick drum cause he was just pounding on his set so damn hard. The hard part is trying to tell you people what The Gasface sounds like. Me personally would have to say they are a sound of their own with a twist of At The Drive In and Bootsy Collins, but when DeadOnTheWeb interviewed them and asked what kind of music they think they are and they responded "Pump Punk". They definitely had a groove going on for sure. (oh yeah look for the interview in the feb. 2001 issue, its pretty funny) The next time these guys are in town, I will definitely be there. Oh yeah, they even had a fog machine that kept the crowd happy. It added a nice ambience to their set. Anyway check out these guys now while they are still playing small venues because I have a feeling they are going to get huge. In the meantime sample their music at www.mp3.com/thegasface. After The Gasface performed, it was time for Phyllis. These guys sound like 311, Limp Bizcuit and Papa Roach put together. The first thing I started asking myself was how many people are in this band? I think there was 6 or 7 guys in this band. One guy’s job in the band was to get drunk, naked, puke, or whatever and that’s it. He was all dressed in a 70’s get up with the huge fro of course. I asked him what his job in the band was. He told me he is the designated beer drinker. HBD was his name, that stands for Has Been Drinking. That was the best part of the band. I don’t care for this type of music, but they put on a pretty good show. The bass player was pretty good. He has a really funky style that most people can groove to. I was even tapping my feet. I won’t even go into the last band because I don’t even know what they are called. I think they were Trip Wire or something like that. All I remember saying to myself was that these guys SUCK MY ASS! I couldn’t even sit there without cringing to the horrible sounds coming from the stage, so I left. Later. Rushak.
