I guess first I’d like to apologize for being a lame ass and taking so long to do this review. I really suck. I was slammed hard by some type of mutating flu virus, excuses .. excuses...but better late than never I suppose. Three bands played, I missed The Heymakers , but I caught the other two. I like the Dollhut, it’s like a miniature house, and the band just plays right there. It’s like having really fucking loud music blasting in your living room, hanging out, drinking beer with your friends. The security was very cool. I knew I recognized one guy, it took me an hour to figure it out. I walk by him practically every day. Word to the guy that works at Newport Tattoo.

When Big Fat Dragster hit the “stage”, I thought the walls were going to come falling in on us. It’s extremely loud in there, forget trying to have a conversation with anyone, you are forced to get into the music. Which sometimes is good, or it can be bad. Fortunately this was a good thing. I hate to classify bands into categories, I’ve discussed this on numerous occasions. If you have difficulties, it’s good, that means they don’t sound just like the same old shit. I swear 80% of the “hard” bands I hear sound like Korn. I guess that’s ok if you like Korn and nothing else. I’m a variety kinda girl. I like different music, a little of this, a little of that, and then mix it all up . BFD is hard. They look like a bunch of bad assess, so you better get the fuck out of their face, but actually, they are all very nice boys. X, has good strong vocals with range. Good metal/hard guitar riffs and fast percussion. Some of the songs on the punk side, the others more hard/metal. I liked a song called “Mental”, it has some fucking cool changes and a combined vocal effort by everyone, which just adds to the energy. Duff- Guitar, Sauce-Guitar, Sikk-Bass and Snakes - Drums, I’m sure these aren’t their real names.. Larry.. but you guys rule. Thanks for inviting me down. You can check them out at www.bigfatdragster.com and pick up their 4 song CD. The only complaint I have about the CD is it’s too short.

I stayed a while to check out the last band, OO D. I only stayed for two songs, but I liked them. It was what they call “Alternative Rock” night, but, I like “Hard” better, but most girls would. They had a guy on turntables, I like a little mixin when done properly, not too overpowering. Sublime is a good example of the proper use of turntables and my personal favorite Slipknot. OO D doesn’t sound like either of the two, but maybe a strange mixture of both. However you want to look at it, they rocked. You people just need to get off your assess and go see bands. Every month we review shows and wean out the shit for you, so you can see quality bands. Why? Because it’s fun, hanging out watching bands, drinking beer is fun, unless you’re weird, then never mind. Go see Big Fat Dragster and OO D.
