Wednesday September 27th,
@ The Crest Theater in Sacramento, CA

Sunny Day Real Estate. You either know who this band is, and love them, or you have no clue what is behind a name like Sunny Day Real Estate. A band formed over 10 years ago, with a break up in-between, Sunny Day is back, with a new album. Touring again, to promote the new album they stopped in Sacramento, California which came as a surprise to most Sunny Day fan's. They haven't made many stops in the California Area. Sure enough though, they stopped in Sacto to a much appreciative crowd.

Due to the date and cost of the show, the Crest was not as packed as it should have been for Sunny Day Real Estate. During Gardener, and Pete Yourn, the sacto crowd was polite and some kids were even into it, but the anticipation for Sunny Day was there. Not even a minute after Pete Yourn and his band left the stage, the hardcore Sunny Day kids were on the incredibly small floor space, waiting.

What seemed like eons, background music began to play, and lights dimmed. Even more eons later, William Goldsmith (x-foo fighters drummer), Dan Hoerner, and Jeremy Enigk  enter the stage, with touring members whose names I was not able to catch. After several technical difficulties, and a few bad joke attempts, the guys were able to go. Opening with soft to loud Pheuron Skeurto, then going into Song about an angel, Sunny Day fans ate it all up.

In no particular order (except for the above mentioned) they played: seven, in circles, 48, every shining time you arrive, 100 million, the prophet, killed by an angel, one, faces in disguise, the rising tide, the ocean , and snibe. They ended the show, to a happy crowd that still wanted more. After several minutes, SDRE came back out on stage for a spectacular 4 song encore.

All and all, a goodnight, but wait it gets better. After leaving the stage, the band goes downstairs, backstage, preparing for the after show meet and greet. Oh yes, oh yes, I get to make my way backstage, down the stairs, into the SDRE dressing room, to meet one of the most amazing bands I've ever seen perform. Great band, nice guys, amazing stage presence, what more could anyone ask for?
