THE
MISFITS
w/
Boobie Trap, & Black Creep
@
The Galaxy Theatre, Santa Ana CA 11-17-01
Live
Review and Photos by GOTH BROOKS
For starters I'd like to thank all the Galaxy employees who I sometimes
lose
patience
with when they're only trying to do their jobs.
I understand how
hard it is to have to take orders
and pass them on from higher ups who don't
always have their eggs in one
basket, or everyone’s best interests in mind.
Put too much authority in the
hands of a small minded person and they'll
definitely abuse the power of that authority.
So basically, what I'm saying
is Thanks to all the good guys and
girls at The Galaxy while apologizing for
my sometimes shitty attitude to
the same. And to one vespa
riding,
trenchcoat wearing, powertripping
little queer in particular(and you know
who you are)..."Thanks for
nothing!"
I've been blessed over and over with the opportunities to meet my musical
heroes and watch them play
incredible live shows in my lifetime.
I've had a
lot of support and been blessed
with lots of gifts in the areas of writing,
interviews, and photo
opportunities for deadontheweb and other online
magazines and publications.
Every once in a while I get the chance to pass
this good fortune along to someone
else in the form of an extra ticket or
all-access pass to a show.

Denishia and Jerry
|
So
when I asked my brother Alex if he knew
anyone who wanted to go see
The MISFITS, he fell silent a few seconds and
then with a curious look on
his face asked if I'd take my niece Denishia to
see The MISFITS.
My eyes grew wide and a smile appeared across my face.
What a cool thing, and an
incredible honor to get to take my niece to her
first all-ages show.
And what better band to take her to see than The
MISFITS? |
We got to The Galaxy and hooked-up with deadontheweb editor-in-chief/CEO
Scott Harding and got things
smoothed out w/ MISFITS tour manager Kenny in
preparation for our interview with
Jerry Only(which went great and will be
posted here shortly, if not at the
same time as this review). The
first
band to play was Black Creep.
This band is Jason on vocals, and the
drummer, guitar and bass player
from Payaso. Black Creep is
loud, rude, and
obnoxious krusty punk.
They had the crowd going and there was some action
in the pit for these guys.
They had me screaming "you suck!" and "play some
Motley Crue you
pussies!"(which meant I like the band).
Note to Black Creep
drummer: "Keep Prince Albert
in your pants." My niece
almost had to see
that shit.
Boobie Trap was up next and they were their usual excellent
selves.
The band sounds great, Franki looks F-I-N-E, and their show is
getting hot, hot, hot, with all
the Micheal Jackson crotch-grabbing and Mary
Misfit titty-licking.

Jerry and Fans Back Stage
It's 3 days later as I write this and I'm still in awe from the raw-power
and total devastation The MISFITS
leave behind after their live show.
Killer stage design and light show
this year! The best yet!
The last time
I saw The MISFITS was at last
years blood drive with Zoli from Ignite on
vocals and Kenny from Candiria on
drums after the departure of Graves and
Chud.
I've always been a loyal fiend and whoever is in this band at any
given time makes no difference to
me at all. I trust in Jerry
to do right
by the fans and the man does not
disappoint. Here we are on
the 25 year
tour in celebration of The MISFITS
with Jerry doubling on bass and lead
vocals for an incredible 50-song
set with Dez and Robo along with Marky
Ramone and Tracii Guns on a few
songs playing all The MISFITS, BLACK FLAG,
and The RAMONES best stuff.
It's special for this band to play all the
great older songs for their
younger generation of fans. Awesome stuff there!

Tracii Guns Ready To Jam With
The Misfits
GOTH BROOKS would like to thank
Jerry, Kenny, Denishia, The Fiend Club, Carri, Don & Ricky, Julie &
Bobby Jackson, Jeff from Colorado,
Tracii Guns, Dez, Robo, Marky, Danny C.
and his lovely wife Deb, Arnold
Schwarznegger, Jesus Christ, and The Grinch
Who
Stole Christmas.
