NAPSTER
GOOD! METALLICA BAD! |
Welcome friends, to my first “Bitch Fest”
article. Before I start on our topic of the month let me tell you a bit
about myself. My name is Frank Rizzo, and I love to bitch! That’s right.
I’m that son of a bitch that you see in line at the grocery store
yelling at the cashier because I think the supermarket charges way to
much! Even though they have nothing to do with pricing the shit they sell!
I’m the dick head that rips a new asshole in to every waiter that
fucks up my order even though it might not be entirely their fault. And
don’t even get me started on about the fucks that run AOL! Bitching is
what keeps me going. Yeah, my friends say I’m a pleasant guy to hang
around. So as we enter the first edition I’ll say this; I’m gonna piss
some of you pricks off, and you know what? I don’t fuck’n care! Ok so
let’s do this!
First lets talk about a few reasons why I think Napster is a good thing.
See nothing pisses me off more than when I go into Tower Records and pay an outrageous price of up to twenty fuck’n dollars for a CD of a band I heard was good only to bring it home and find that the band sucks and the singer sounds like someone is squeezing his nuts while he sings about shit I don’t even care about! |
Well that’s where Napster comes in. I just get a song from the band I’m thinking about buying off Napster, hear the song, and then decide if I want to buy the CD or not. It’s that simple To me it’s a great way to experience new and indy music. When I’m on Napster downloading my band of choice off someone’s list who has cool shit on it like Dead Kennedys, Dayglo Abortions or NOFX, I figure they have good taste in music. |
So if I see a band on their list I haven’t heard about before, chances are I’ll check them out and like them. Hell, I’ll even go out to see them live or buy their cd! I would have never found out about half the bands I like now if it wasn’t for Napster! It’s a great way to promote a band. Hey I’ve been in a band before and it’s was pain in my ass to try to get people to listen to my music. If I had Napster to help get my music out it would have got’n my band more of a fan base and I could quit my job as sanitary waste manager! Yeah that’s right, I’m a garbage man, gotta fuck’n problem with that?!? The list goes on and on. Now here is why I think Metallica is a bad thing. First of all they blame Napster for the decline of their record sales. HELLO! Did Metallica ever think that maybe the fact that they are has-beens and their music sucks now might have anything to do with it?! And what the fuck is up with that shit they just came out with, you know, with the whole orchestra. Ok, didn’t Aerosmith and Guns N Roses do that same shit back in the early 80’s and 90’s?!?! Maybe their lack of originality has something to do with their decreasing sales. Oh yeah one more thing, cutting off all your hair and trying to be something your not isn’t gonna help either! |
Secondly they bitch more than I do! Come on guys, your already rich! And if money is your motive then did ya ever thing that maybe Napster might even get you new fans! Being in the music industry I know that today’s artists make more cash off of touring and selling merchandise other than CDs at the shows. When your signed your lucky if you get ten cents for every CD you sell after you manager, record label, and engineer get their hands on the profits. So quit you whining and try playing the music that got you big, this way people will go out and see you live and buy your crap! |
And why is it that these schmucks are trying extinguish the very thing that even they admit helped get them big. Bootlegging! I don’t recall them complaining when they were gaining fans more and more because people were trading copies of “Master of Puppets” and “Kill ‘Em All”! - Frank Rizzo
